Trey Cobb Hired As Oklahoma State Baseball Director of Player Development
STILLWATER – Former Oklahoma State baseball standout Trey Cobb has joined Josh Holliday’s staff as the Director of Player Development.
Cobb was most recently in a scouting role with the New York City Mets.
“Ever since I left, I’ve been hoping to one day get back into the facility to work for the school I love,” Cobb told Pokes Report. “To have that dream come true and be able to work side by side with not only an extremely knowledgeable and talented coaching staff, but one that’s played a massive role in making me the man I am today is a true blessing.” End quote.
In three seasons with the Pokes, Cobb posted a 2.96 ERA, recording 189 strikeouts to 60 walks in 167 innings pitched across 74 appearances. He gave up just nine home runs and recorded 11 saves. He also played a pivotal role in helping get the Pokes back to Omaha and the College World Series, recording three wins across the regional at Clemson and Super Regional at South Carolina, and was credited with a win against Arizona in Omaha.
Cobb was drafted by the Mets in the eighth round of the 2017 MLB, with the 247th overall pick. He finished his professional career with a 15-14 overall record and a 4.84 ERA with 215 strikeouts and 18 saves across 163 games.
