Oklahoma State Soccer Makes It Two Draws for Utah Road Trip

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Oklahoma State concluded its road trip with another Big 12 point Sunday as the 23rd-ranked Cowgirls battled Utah to a scoreless draw at Ute Field. With the result, OSU is 8-2-3 overall and 1-2-2 in conference play, while the Utes are 4-4-4 and 1-2-2 in the league.
Utah finished the match with a slight 10-8 edge in shots, many of those coming late in the match, while OSU held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Grace Gordon posted the shutout in goal with four saves. It marks her seventh shutout of the season, which is tied for the fifth most in a single season in program history. She now has 13 career shutouts in an OSU uniform, one shy of moving into fourth on the program’s all-time list.
OSU controlled the attack in a scoreless first half and put both of its shots on goal. The best chance came in the eighth minute on a long blast from Logan Heausler that was saved by a diving Kasey Wardle.
Utah nearly took advantage of an own goal late in the opening half as a cross off the leg of a Cowgirl defender was headed into the net, but Gordon leapt to get her hands on the ball and then corralled it as she fell to the ground.
The second half also failed to yield a score. Over the final 10 minutes, Utah recorded four shots and two corner kicks, with Gordon making a pair of saves to keep the clean sheet intact.
OSU returns to action with its only game this week Saturday at Kansas, with the match set for a 6 p.m. kickoff.
