Impressive Cowgirls Shut Out Arkansas and Tulsa in Doubleheader Sweep in T-Town

TULSA – The Oklahoma State Softball team earned a pair of exhibition wins over Arkansas and Tulsa on Saturday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex in Tulsa.

The Cowgirls started the day with a 6-0 win against the Razorbacks before handling the Golden Hurricane, 13-0, immediately after the first contest. OSU moved to 5-0 in the fall exhibition season with the pair of wins, outscoring opponents by a combined margin of 61-1 in that span.

In the first contest, the Cowgirls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning and never looked back, adding runs in the fifth and sixth innings to secure a 6-0 win over Arkansas.

Kyra Aycock picked up the decision as she tossed 3.0 scoreless innings and struck out one batter. Madison Hoffman saw an inning of action and Katie Kutz closed the game out with 3.0 innings of shutout ball.

Offensively, eight different Cowgirls tabbed a base hit, highlighted by home runs from Claire Timm and Amanda Hasler.

The Cowgirls totaled 20 hits in the second game of the afternoon against Tulsa,  as Tia Warsop and Rosie Davis each nabbed three hits in the contest. Davis went 3-for-3 with three doubles, two RBIs and a run scored.

The Pokes struck first with a pair of runs in the first inning, and added three runs in the fourth, five in the fifth, one in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to lift them to a 13-0 win.

In the circle, RyLee Crandall earned the victory as she opened the game with 3.0 perfect innings and struck out five, while Ruby Meylan shut the Golden Hurricane down with seven strikeouts in 3.0 innings of work to close out the contest. Hoffman saw an inning of action between the two and did not give up a hit.

The Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow afternoon against West Texas A&M at 3 p.m. inside Cowgirl Stadium. The contest is free admission for fans and open to the public.
