Oklahoma State Recruiting Roll Continues With Bixby's Trey McGlothlin Making His Pledge
STILLWATER – The rush of recruiting commitments for Oklahoma State continued as the Cowboys have had three this week and now Bixby (OK) HS All-State linebacker, Trey McGlothlin, has committed to the Pokes.
All three of the new pledges to go along with Jaylen Stewart, an edge defender from Pearland, Texas, who committed on Feb. 20, have been on campus in the past week to 10 days. Two of the three recent commitments are from Oklahoma and two of them are on the defensive side of the football.
That, I can tell you from analysis, is a major emphasis in this recruiting class.

McGlothlin was part of the contingent of 17 prospects that were in Stillwater and at the West End Zone of Boone Pickens Stadium last weekend. McGlothin was offered in January and visited during that month with director of recruiting for Cowboys football Todd Bradford going by Bixby and later on head coach Mike Gundy was also by the powerhouse Class 6A-I champions. Oklahoma State has multiple offers into Bixby players including the youngest of the Presley bothers, Braeden Presley, who plays on that stingy Spartans defense with McGlothlin.
McGlothlin is 6-3, 195 pounds, so he is light for a college linebacker, but he has the frame to put weight on and he has a 4.5 legit timed 40 and also has a 37-inch vertical. His athleticism is high end. His production for Bixby has been high end as well. Remember, this is a program with a lot of players, a lot of depth, and a lot of wins that are blowouts, so starters sometimes don’t play as many snaps as other schools.
That said, McGlothlin this past season for the Class 6A-I State Champions in overtime over Owasso, had 72 tackles, 8.0 tackles for loss, 2.0 sacks, three quarterback hurries, three passes defended, a fumble caused and three interceptions, two returned for touchdowns.

I saved the interceptions for last because the “pick six” is a fair evaluation for McGlothlin because as a sophomore he picked a pass and returned it for a touchdown. In two seasons that is four interceptions with three back to the house. His football instincts make him the master of the run through. That is how he’s put it in the end zone, much easier if all you have to beat is the guy who threw it.
The best thing in his evaluation is besides athletic and high football IQ, he is a very physical players that you can see likes to hit.
He had offers from Arizona State, Utah, West Virginia, Boston College, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Texas Tech, UTEP, and Iowa. I saved the Hawkeyes for last because when you beat Iowa on a linebacker then you know you’ve gained a darn good linebacker because the Hawkeyes are as good a program as there is in evaluating linebackers.
McGlothlin already had an official visit set up for June 19. That might be moved up now or not, but it is great to get another Bixby Spartan in the Oklahoma State program.
