STILLWATER – Oklahoma State softball’s season came to an end on Sunday evening in the finals of the NCAA Fayetteville Regional. With the season officially over, players are starting to announce they’re entering their names into the transfer portal.

We’ll also be using this article to show players who have announced they’re coming back for next season.

The first player to announce they’re returning for next season is pitcher, Ruby Meylan. RyLee Crandall also took to Twitter Monday evening and seemingly sent out a tweet talking about how much she loves the Cowgirl Nation.

Third baseman Tallen Edwards was the first player to announce she’s entered the transfer portal. You can read about Edwards here. She was joined by Micaela Wark on Tuesday morning. Wark hit .241 this season across 116 at-bats with 28 hits.

Transfer portal tracker

  • Tallen Edwards - Junior - UT
  • Micaela Wark - R-Jr. - IF
  • Tara Vandewater - Freshman - UT
  • Taylor Anderson - Freshman - LF

Hate to see Edwards and Wark hit the portal, but they will do what they think is best for themselves. VERY happy to see that Meylan and Crandall are remaining Cowgirls, though! Looking forward to seeing what Guyewski builds from incoming HS & portal recruits - I will bet that the build is strong!

Not surprised by Wark. But Edwards is surprising. She had improved at 3b but it felt like she was the same hitter from when she first got there.

Sorta disagree. Edwards was a .350ish hitter with average power as a Frosh. As a Jr she was a .280ish hitter with below average power. If under KG she hasn't improved hitting since the beginning of her frosh season, she probably needs different scenery.

KG needs to find a couple more reliable pitchers for next year, to relieve some of the pressure off Ruby and RyLee.. And he needs to find some more offense somewhere. Too often this year, the offense was MIA

I think we agree haha. My fault, I didn't say why I was surprised. It's more about how 'in' she's been from a young age. Has had lots of success from a team standpoint. Seemed like an OSU-lifer type.

I think her numbers were better as a frosh but hitting acumen is about the same. Frosh version benefited from less pressure and teams not having the analytics just yet.

I think she suffers from poor approach at the plate. Literally tries to crank everything. She's So long through the zone + average power = pop outs and ground balls.
