Oklahoma State Baseball's NCAA Tournament Projections
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State’s regular season came to end in the second round of the Big 12 tournament in a disappointing walk-off loss to Kansas 7-6. The loss dropped the Pokes to 28-23 overall on the season and they’ll wait until the selection show on Monday to see if they’re included in the NCAA tournament.
Most people, myself included, feel they did enough in the final month of Big 12 play to make the tournament, which included taking two out of three games against Baylor and series sweeps of UCF and Arizona State. They also beat Baylor in the opening round of the Big 12 tournament, which bumped them up to No. 39 in the RPI.
Following the walk-off loss to KU, the Pokes dropped down to No. 43 in the RPI.
So, let’s take a look at the various college baseball entities to see if/where they have the Pokes going.
As of Friday morning, D1Baseball as the Pokes as a No. 3 seed in the Atlanta Regional, which is projected to be hosted by projected No. 16 Georgia Tech. They have Florida as the No. 2 seed and Murray State as the No. 4 seed.
The Cowboys are also a No. 3 seed according to Baseball America but headed to the Tallahassee Regional hosted by No. 10 Florida State. They have Alabama as the No. 2 seed and Bethune-Cookman as the No. 4 seed.
D1 has Kansas as No. 2 seed in the Fayetteville Regional, West Virginia as the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional, Kansas State as the No. 2 seed in the Nashville Regional, Cincinnati as the No. 3 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional, Arizona State as the No. 3 seed in the Los Angeles Regional, Arizona as the No. 2 seed in the Eugene Regional and TCU as the No. 2 seed in the Corvallis Regional.
BA has Kansas State as the No. 3 seed in the Austin Regional, Arizona as the No. 2 seed in the Fayetteville Regional, TCU hosting a regional, West Virginia as the No. 2 seed in the Knoxville Regional, Kansas as the No. 2 seed in the Los Angeles Regional (UCLA), Arizona State as the No. 3 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional and Cincinnati as the No. 3 seed in the Corvallis Regional.
The NCAA selection show is set for Monday, May 26, at 11 a.m. on ESPN2.
