Oklahoma State beat Ole Miss 3-2 in match play, with two of the three wins coming in extra holes on Tuesday to advance to the championship match at the NCAA Championships.

With the win, the Cowboys will face Virginia on Wednesday.

The Cowboys clinched the win when sophomore Eric Lee sank a putt for par in extras.

“It’s a great feeling, especially to do it on this par-3 (16th hole),” said Lee. “I didn’t play it too well last year, so to be able to send my team to the finals on this hole means a lot. It gives me a lot of confidence going into tomorrow.”

“He’s just a really good player. It was perfect to have him in the anchor match,” said head coach Alan Bratton. “He’s a really good ball hitter, great approach player and he’s clutch, and he showed that. What a shot on 18 (his second to the green). He needs to imprint that one for the rest of his life.”

The Cowboys jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead following the 5-and-4 win for sophomore Preston Stout of Michael La Sasso, who was an individual medalist.

That’s when things got a little dicey as the Rebels answered with two wins of their own, with Gaven Lane falling 4 and 2 and Ethan Fang falling 1 up.

Freshman Filip Fahlberg-Johnsson had a clutch performance as he tied the match up at 2-all with a huge win with a birdie on the second extra hole after tying his match at the 18th.

Enter Eric Lee.

Lee trailed Cohen Trolio through the first 13 holes of his match, before tying things up at the 14th. Lee had a chance to put things away with an eagle putt on 18th but clinched with a clutch par putt in the first extra hole.
