
Oklahoma State Walks Off Georgia 11-9 to Eliminate the Bulldogs
The Oklahoma State Cowboys sent the Georgia Bulldogs packing with a come-from-behind 11-9 walk off win the bottom of the ninth inning of an elimination game of the Athens Regional.
With the win, the Cowboys will face Duke Sunday night with the game starting just after 5 p.m. CT. The Blue Devils have yet to lose a game, the Pokes will need to beat them twice to advance out of the Athens Regional.
Trailing 9-7 going into the top of the ninth inning, the Cowboys showed their resilience. After two-straight singles for the Bulldogs, freshman pitcher, Matt Brown, was brought into the game and proceeded to strike out Branch, Jackson and McCarthy on 11 pitches.
Nolan Schubart was walked to start the bottom of the ninth to bring up Kollin Ritchie. After eight pitches, Ritchie sent a pitch out of the yard over the right field fence to tie the game at nine.
Alex Conover reached on a fielder’s choice with one out, with Colin Brueggemann being thrown out at second for the second out.
Enter freshman Brock Thompson.
Thompson walked it off with a two-run shot over the left field fence.
Brown earned the first win of his career, throwing one inning with three strikeouts.
As for Thompson, he finished the game going 2-for-3 from the plate with two walks and two RBIs.
