Former Oklahoma State standout Nolan McLean recorded a career-high 11 strikeouts in the New York Mets’ 8-5 win over the Chicago Cubs.
McLean went just over five innings, giving up five hits and five runs, all of them earned, with a career-high 11 strikeouts and just two walks. Eight of his strikeouts came in the first four innings, and his 11th came to start the sixth inning.
He’s currently sitting with a 2.06 ERA with 57 strikeouts and 16 walks.
The Mets are currently 12 games back from the first-place Phillies with just a three-game road series against the Miami Marlins this weekend.
