Cowgirl Softball Splits Day at Stanford Invitational, Beats Cal and Loses to Stanford
It was a 50/50 day for Oklahoma State softball out in Palo Alto, CA, as the the were on both ends of the spectrum today. They crushed Cal in game one 15-2 in five innings and were run-ruled by Stanford 10-0 in five innings in the second game.

Game 1: Cal - 15-2 W (5 inn.)
Freshman Jayelle Austin hit a grand slam, and Claire Timm drove in five runs to power the No. 24/20 Oklahoma State softball team to a dominating 15-2, five-inning run-rule victory over California at the Stanford Softball Stadium Saturday.
The 13-run margin of victory was OSU's most lopsided victory over Cal in a series that dates back to 1981. The Cowgirls' 15 runs marked just the fifth time in the last 10 years that the Bears have allowed 15 runs or more in a game.
With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 3-1 overall. The Bears dipped to 0-2, with both defeats coming at the hands of the Pokes.
In their last three games at the Stanford Invitational – one against San Jose State and two against Cal, the Cowgirls have outscored the opposition, 32-5, and have secured two five-inning run-rule victories.
After spotting the Bears two runs in the first inning Saturday, OSU roared back with 15 unanswered to put the game out of reach.
Austin's grand slam headlined a six-run second inning that also included a two-run homer from Timm. The Cowgirls blew the game wide open with a seven-run third inning that included a two-run double from Karli Godwin, a two-run single from Timm, an RBI double from Amanda Hasler and an RBI triple from Aubrey Jones.
Ruby Meylan (1-1) overwhelmed the Bears in relief to pick up the win. She entered the contest with two Cal runners on base and one out in the first inning and got out of the jam without allowing any runs. Meylan went on to retire the first 11 batters she faced, allow no hits and struck out four in 4.2 innings of work.
Game 2: Stanford - 10-0 L (5 inn.)
The No. 24/20 Oklahoma State softball team lost to No. 18/17 Stanford, 10-0, in five innings Saturday at the Stanford Softball Stadium.
The Cardinal improved to 3-0 on the year, while the Cowgirls dipped to 3-2.
Stanford jumped on OSU immediately, scoring six runs in the first inning, then adding two in the second and two more in the third.
Alyssa Houston got the win for the Cardinal, with Madison Hoffman taking the loss for the Pokes after surrendering three earned runs in the first. RyLee Crandall allowed seven earned runs in relief.
OSU, which had scored a combined 32 runs in its previous three games, was limited to a trio of singles from Jayelle Austin, Tia Warsop and Audrey Schneidmiller in Saturday's clash with Stanford.
The Cowgirls return to action when they compete at the Clearwater Invitational next week. OSU faces No. 20 Georgia and No. 16 LSU Thursday, No. 11 Texas A&M and No. 7 UCLA Friday and No. 23 Duke Saturday.
