STILLWATER – Ruby Meylan threw a perfect game as No. 23/21 Oklahoma State run-ruled BYU, 10-0 in five innings, Friday night at Cowgirl Stadium.

Meylan (11-6) recorded the ninth perfect game - and the eighth solo perfect game - in program history. It was OSU’s first perfect game since March 24, 2021, against North Texas, when Kelly Maxwell and Carrie Eberle combined for one. Maxwell also threw the program’s last solo perfect game in February 2020 against Florida A&M.

It marked Meylan’s second no-hitter of the season, along with her eighth complete game and fourth shutout. She struck out six of the 15 batters she faced, needed just 70 pitches, and did not allow a ball to leave the infield.

“Playing at home in front of my friends and family just means more,” Meylan said. “Continuing to have the mindset of executing the next pitch and going one pitch at a time.”

In 10.0 scoreless innings of work in her two appearances against BYU this weekend, Meylan has allowed only one hit and struck out 14.

Oklahoma State’s offense added three home runs, including back-to-back shots to open the game. Tia Warsop, the leadoff hitter, hit the first home run of her career, and Rosie Davis followed with her seventh of the season. The Cowgirls added three more runs in the first inning on two sacrifice flies and a bases-loaded walk.

Oklahoma State scored again in each of the next two innings. Aubrey Jones drove in a run with a groundout in the second, and Warsop added an RBI single in the third.

The game ended in the fifth when Lexi McDonald hit a three-run home run, her first of the season to secure the run-rule victory.

The Cowgirls improved to 21-9 overall and 4-4 in Big 12 play, while BYU fell to 8-20 and 0-5 in conference.

Gianna Mares (5-6) started for BYU and took her sixth loss of the year.

OSU goes for the series sweep when the two teams meet at noon CT tomorrow in Cowgirl Stadium.
