Karli Godwin Launches Two Home Runs to Give Oklahoma State 10-7 Road Win Over Tulsa

STILLWATER – It was a late-game five-run explosion for Oklahoma State as the Cowgirls rallied to beat Tulsa 10-7 on the road. 

With the win, the Cowgirls improved to 22-10 overall this season.

Trailing 6-5 going into the top of the seventh inning, Claire Timm reached on a fielding error, advancing to third base. Gabby Castillo singled to center field, scoring Timm from third to make it a tie game with no outs. Castillo advanced to second on a foul-out from Tia Warsop and scored when Rosie Davis doubled to left center to give the Pokes a one-run lead. 

Amanda Hasler was hit by the next pitch to bring Karli Godwin up to bat. With the fifth pitch of the at-bat, Godwin drilled a three-run homer out beyond the left field fence to give the Pokes their final lead of the game at 10-7. 

That marked Karli’s second homer of the game. She also hit one in the top of the fourth. 

RyLee Crandall got the start, going just over two innings and giving up five earned runs on five hits with two walks and no strikeouts. Ruby Meylan came into the game in relief and went just over four innings and gave up three hits and two runs, just one of them earned and six strikeouts. 

With the win, Meylan moved to 12-6 overall on the season and is now up to 126 strikeouts on the season. 

Davis finished the game going 3-for-4 from the plate with one home run, one double and three RBIs. Godwin went 2-for-4 with four RBIs and two home runs. It marked her third multi-home run day.

The Cowgirls are back in action this coming Friday as they have a three-game Big 12 road trip against Utah.
