Oklahoma State Takes Game One Against Kansas 8-1

The No. 16/13 Oklahoma State softball team broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning and defeated Kansas, 8-1 at Cowgirl Stadium Friday.

STILLWATER– The No. 16/13 Oklahoma State softball team broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning and defeated Kansas, 8-1 at Cowgirl Stadium Friday.

The win improved the Cowgirls to 36-13 overall and 15-7 in Big 12 play, while Kansas fell to 33-17 and 13-9.

With the bases loaded in the fourth, Tia Warsop delivered a two-run single to right field to give the Cowgirls their first lead. Audrey Schneidmiller followed with another two-run single, extending the lead to 4-0.

OSU added power in the later innings, hitting four home runs across the fifth and sixth. Rosie Davis hit her 11th home run of the season and Claire Timm added her eighth in the fifth inning. In the sixth, Madison Hoffman recorded her third home run, and Aubrey Jones hit her fourth. Spanning the last two games, Hoffman's last three at-bats have resulted in a home run, a triple, and another home run.

Kansas scored its only run in the sixth inning when Anna Soles hit a double to left-center field that drove in Kadence Stafford.

Ruby Meylan (25-6) started for Oklahoma State and extended her winning streak to 18 games. She allowed one earned run and struck out eight over six innings. Chloe Barber (8-7) took the loss for Kansas after allowing four runs in 4 1/3 innings.

The Pokes will go for the series win at 2 p.m. CT tomorrow at Cowgirl Stadium.
