STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are in the NCAA tournament as the No. 13 overall seed and will be hosting the Stillwater Regional.

The other three teams will be Eastern Illinois, Princeton and fifth seed Stanford.

The Pokes will face Eastern Illinois on Friday, May 13 at 3:30 p.m. CT.

“Another exciting selection show for Oklahoma State and our softball program,” Kenny Gajewski said. “It never gets old to see your name being called and to see your kids jump up and scream and holler, it’s really cool. It’s why you coach; it’s why you do these kinds of things for these types of moments. It reminded me of our first year here when we didn’t know if we were in or not. We obviously knew we were in [this year] and I felt 100% that we were going to host, but until your name’s called, you just don’t know. It’s really cool, excited for these kids.

The Stillwater Regional is paired with the Nebraska Regional, which features No. 1 seed Nebraska, Grand Canyon, Louisville and South Dakota.

The Cowgirls are much improved from last season as they enter the tournament with a 38-15 overall record on the season and 16-8 in Big 12 play. Theu finished the season strong as they played their way to the No. 15 overall team in the RPI.

This has the chance to be a really interesting Regional for the Cowgirls as they started the season on the road at Stanford, losing game one 4-2 and game two 10-0 in five innings. Since, the Cowgirls figured things out and are the clear favorites to get out of the Stillwater Regional.

They split two games with the Huskers at the OSU/Tulsa Invitational in Stillwater earlier this season and beat Grand Canyon 10-5 out in Phoenix, AZ.
