It wasn’t the best of outings on Friday for Oklahoma State as they lost to Nebraska 8-1 in game one of the NCAA Lincoln Super Regional.

With the loss, the Pokes fell to 41-16 on the season.

Pitcher Ruby Meylan earned the loss as she gave up seven earned runs on eight hits in just two innings of work on Friday. She had just two strikeouts and one walk across 15 batters.

RyLee Crandall came into the game in relief, also going two innings, but facing six batters. She recorded three force outs and three ground outs. Freshman Makala Smith made her season debut for the Pokes, going just over one inning, allowing four hits, one earned run with two walks.

The Cowgirls struggled from the plate as well as they combined for just five hits, Madison Hoffman going 2-for-3. Karli Godwin went 1-for-2 with a home run and the Pokes’ lone RBI of the game.

Godwin’s home run was her 10th of the season and the 32nd of her career. That moves her into a tie for fourth all-time in program history with Julie Ward and Rosie Davis.

The Cowgirls are back in action tomorrow as they’ll face Nebraska in an elimination game. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN2.
