Cowboys Get Trounced in Opening Bedlam Game, Fall 16-2

STILLWATER – It was a rough night on the diamond in O’Brate Stadium for Oklahoma State as they fall in the opening round of Bedlam, 15-2.

Freshman pitcher Bryce Osmond was charged with the loss as he gave up nine hits and seven earned runs in just four innings pitched. He finished the day with four strikeouts and one walk. He moves to 2-4 on the season as a starter.

It wasn’t just Osmond who struggled out on the mound as the Cowboy pitchers combined to give up 12 earned runs on the day.

The Sooners blew the game wide open in the top of the third inning as they put five runs across, all with two outs on the board. In fact, all but two of the Sooners’ runs came with two outs on the board. They’d then combine to put eight more runs across the plate, include four homers for six RBIs. They also scored an unearned run on an error in the top of the fifth after missed ball on a run-down following a wild pitch by Roman Phansalkar, followed by two runs in the top of the ninth following a bases loaded hit-by-pitch and a traditional walk.

On the other side of things, the Cowboys combined for 3 of 29 from the plate. It was Max Hewitt who led the way for the Pokes as he went 1-of-3 with the lone RBI on the board.

The Cowboys will travel to Norman for games two and three, with first pitch of the second game of the series scheduled for 3 p.m. CT and will be televised on Bally Sports Oklahoma.
