Back to Six-Day Window, FOX Waiting on Oklahoma State at Kansas State and Others
STILLWATER – After the carnage at the top of the Big 12 football standings last Saturday with unbeaten and then No. 2-ranked BYU losing to UCF iin overtime as well as unbeaten Texas Tech losing at unranked Cincinnati the Big 12 race is crazy. For that reason, primarily FOX Sports and TNT/HBO Max have delayed their selections for the Big 12 games on Nov. 7, and that includes Oklahoma State at Kansas State.
ESPN already had TCU at now No. 22 and 6-1/3-1 Arizona scheduled for Friday at 9:15 p.m. (CT). ESPN also selected No. 8 BYU (6-1/3-1) at No. 6 and unbeaten Utah (7-0/4-0) for 11 a.m. (CT) and 10 a.m. (MT) That game will either be on ESPN or ABC. ESPN2 has Colorado at Arizona State for a 6:30 p.m. (CT) kickoff.
Left for six-day selections are (in order of our preference) No. 24 Oklahoma State (5-2/3-1) at Kansas State (4-3/1-3), West Virginia (5-3/2-3) at No. 13 Texas Tech (6-1/3-1), Cincinnati (5-2/2-2) at No. 18 Houston (6-2/3-2), Iowa State at Baylor and UCF at Kansas.
Oklahoma State really needs to stay unbeaten and if they do, then they could easily be in Arlington on Dec. 4 for the Big 12 Championship Game. If they were to get into the CFP, the Cowboys either need to win the Big 12 Championship Game or go unbeaten and hope they face an unbeaten Utah or a once-beaten BYU, the survivor of that rivalry game on Nov. 7. The problem is beyond those two, Texas Tech and Arizona neither one have a marquee win from this season. Both had lousy, easy non conference schedules.
Utah as an unbeaten would be good and BYU as a once beaten with a win over Notre Dame would be a good resume’ builder.
