Watch: George W. Bush Throws Out Ceremonial First Pitch With Cecil O'Brate

STILLWATER – It was a special night in O’Brate Stadium as George Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, threw out of the first pitch of the stadium dedication against New Orleans. What made it even more special was he did it alongside his great friend, and namesake to the stadium, Cecil O’Brate.

While it might not have been as electric as when 197-pound national champion AJ Ferrari ripped off his tank top and flexed on OU after throwing his opening pitch, it was an incredibly special occasion as there’s nothing quite like a presidential first pitch.

“Seeing Secret Service walk through the ballpark is definitely a first, and it’s probably the only thing that has impacted us is meeting a couple of nice men that have been here all week checking the place out,” Cowboy baseball head coach Josh Holliday said earlier in the week. “They’ve done a lot of work on this already, facilities, Oklahoma State and President Bush’s team. We haven’t had a lot to do with it, but we are excited we are included as part of it. We get to meet President Bush. He is going to take some time to speak to our team before the game, which is awesome. I think he is going to take some time to speak to the opponent as well, to give those young men and their team an experience they won’t forget either. It sounds as this is a really inclusive trip for him and he is really sharing himself and his love for baseball with all of us.”

The occasion was also celebrated with a flyover from the Tulsa Warbirds.

The Cowboys are 30-16-1 on the season and will be looking to finish the season on a high note with the three game non-conference series against the Privateers.
