The Bluejays are coming off an incredible 2022-23 season in which they made it all the way to the Elite 8 of the NCAA tournament, losing by one point, 57-56, to San Diego State, who made it all the way to the title game against UConn.
They finished with a 24-13 overall record, 14-6 in Big East, which was good for third in the conference. They beat then-ranked No. 21 Texas Tech and No. 9 ranked Arkansas early in the season in the Maui Jim Invitational, lost by five to then-ranked No. 2 Texas, 72-67, and lost by just nine to the eventual champs, UConn, 69-60.
They split the season series with a ranked Xavier team, while beating UConn in the second match-up of the conference slate, 56-53, in Omaha.
The Bluejays’ tournament run was pretty special as they opened with a 72-63 win over NC State, followed by an impressive 85-76 win over No. 11 Baylor. They then beat a Cinderella Princeton team in the Sweet 16, 86-75, before dropping in the Elite 8 to San Diego State.
While it could be a very different looking team next season, as could the Cowboys, the Bluejays averaged 76.4 points per game this past season on 47% shooting from the field, 35% from 3-point range and 78% from the free throw line. They outrebounded opponents 37-33 and held opponents to just 68 points per game.
