STILLWATER – Keiton Page has been elevated into the role of assistant coach for the Oklahoma State men's basketball team, head coach Mike Boynton announced today.

"Keiton Page is the epitome of Loyal and True," Boynton said. His commitment to the Cowboy Basketball program is second to none."

While it has yet to be announced by the program, one of the three assistant coaches on last year’s staff is being replaced by Page as teams can only have three assistant coaches.

Page has served in a variety of roles within the program under coaches Travis Ford, Brad Underwood and Boynton. Most recently, he was the director of player development, where he analyzed game and practice film, developed advanced metrics that aid in coaching, assisted in alumni events and was extensively involved in the Mike Boynton basketball camps.

"I'm thankful to work for Coach Boynton and my alma mater in this new role," Page said. "I look forward to pushing Cowboy Basketball in the right direction with this coaching staff and reaching the goals we have set out to accomplish as a program."

Page played a large role in OSU's recruiting efforts, as well as video scouting, game preparations and individual skill development. He also served as a mentor to young players on the OSU roster.

"He is a relentless worker, has a great knowledge of the game and will help our players and staff continue on our mission of bringing consistent success to Stillwater," Boynton said. "I'm thankful to him and his family and we are lucky he has stuck around. We're looking forward to him making a major impact in this new role."

A standout in his playing days, Page arrived at OSU in 2008 as one of the most heralded players in Oklahoma high school basketball history and went on to score 1,651 career points for the Cowboys, a mark that ranks 10th in school history.

He was a two-time All-Big 12 selection, and his 299 career three-pointers were the standard until Phil Forte III broke Page's record in January of 2017. Page ranks eighth among all OSU players with 108 career starts, and his career free throw percentage of 85.9 ranks fourth.

"From his time as a player and member of the support staff, he's been committed to every task he's been challenged with and he has excelled in every role he's had in his time here," Boynton said. "I am honored to reward his loyalty with a promotion to assistant coach."

INDIANAPOLIS -- The NCAA Division I Council voted Wednesday to eliminate the voluntary coach designation and increase the number of coaches allowed in baseball, softball, ice hockey and men's and women's basketball.

The council also voted to eliminate standardized test score requirements for immediate eligibility for incoming freshman athletes and to update the guidelines for a transfer waiver. The waivers are for athletes trying to transfer for a second time as an undergraduate because of extenuating circumstances or some type of hardship.

The council met during the NCAA convention, which runs through Friday.

The council's decisions do not become official until the Division I Board of Directors reviews them, but would go into effect for the 2023-24 school year.

The changes will allow Division I baseball, softball and ice hockey teams to have four full-time coaches instead of three. Basketball coaching staffs can increase by two, though the two additional coaches will not be permitted to recruit off-campus.
