STILLWATER – This is a major recruiting weekend for almost all Oklahoma State sports teams as they piggy back off Homecoming and a premier football game on campus to entertain their recruits. It has always been a big event for recruiting, and while none of the visitors are here for an official visit, Mike Boynton and his basketball program have some of the best talent in the 2025 and 2026 class on campus. Scoring guard Joson Sanon, point guard Jeremiah Green, and all-around guard Bryce Heard are five, four, and four-star talents in the 2025 recruiting class. Then homegrown in more ways than one small forward Jalen Montonati out of Owasso is a five-star talent in the 2026 recruiting class from jsut down the road in Owasso where his dad and former Oklahoma State standout Brian Montonati is his head coach.
None of the visits are official visits where Oklahoma State is paying the expenses. The 2025 prospects can’t tak an official visit until after Jan. 1, 2024. Jalen Montonati can begin his official visits on Jan. 1 2025.
Montonati is off in the future, but the fact his father played for Eddie Sutton and he is a star in this state already considered the top talent in Oklahoma high school hoops and took Owasso to a state title last season makes him a hit commodity. The 6-7, 1185-pound sophomore to be already has offers from Kansas, Michigan, Arkansas, Tennessee, Iowa, and Oklahoma State so far. He has all-around talent in a big package and he could end up being closer to 6-9 or 6-10. He is not done growing.
Topping the 2025 list is five-star guard Joson Sanon out of Saxton River, Vt. and attending the Vermont Academy. He is a scorer, rebounder, and shar three-point shooter that is 6-5, 188-pounds. He has offers from 14 schools including Oklahoma State, Alabama, Arizona, Indiana, Syracuse, Providence, Georgetown, Iowa, and Nebraska.
He is considered a top 10 player by two different hoops recruiting sources.
Bryce Heard comes from Montverde Academy, familiar to all Oklahoma State fans as being the finishing school for Cade Cunninghma before he arrived for his one season as an Oklahoma State Cowboy. Heard is a 6-5, 187-pound all-around guard talent that is originally from the Chicago area. He attended Homewood-Flossmoor before he wound up in Florida at Montverde. He has 117 offers already including Illinois that is pushing hard and Oklahoma State, USC, Georgia, Arizona State, Kansas State, North Carolina State, and St. John’s.
Then Jeremiah Green is a point guard prospect that is 6-3, 180-pounds and has passing skills to go along with being an excellent shooter and good off the dribble. Green is a native of Denton and played for Guyer High School before migrating to Sunrise Academy in Kansas. That always sparks the thought thst he will end up at Kansas, who has offered along with Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Houston, Arkansas, LSU, and TCU. Again, a 2025 prospect he has been as traveled as any prospect with unofficial visits since August to Auburn, Texas A&M, TCU, and West Virginia.
The Homecoming and Hoops event will begin at 9 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena and will be full of student, particularly the fraternities and sororities and will include a performance from OSU Spirit Squads, opportunities to hear from members of Cowboy Football and Cowboy Wrestling, as well as team intros for Cowboy and Cowgirl Basketball teams.
The conclusion of the event, huge for the basketball prospects, will be a one hour concert from rapper Rich Homie Quan.
Then the prospects are all staying over for the football game on Saturday as the Cowboys host Cincinnati in a critical Big 12 game for Oklahoma State’s hopes to continue as a threat for the Big 12 Championship.
