Opinion: Cowboy Basketball Has Nothing Left in the Tank

STILLWATER — It’s difficult to write about the current season for Oklahoma State Cowboy basketball and not seem/sound like a broken record. The Cowboys had a chance to bounce back from a bad loss in Austin this past weekend against Texas as they played host to a good Texas Tech team on Tuesday evening. Instead, the Cowboys never had a chance as they were destroyed, 75-58.

The bad part about that score is it wasn’t really that close.

bleh... it has nothing to do with 'the tank"

UCF has good defense, so does Texas, we never had a chance all season against any team that could play defense.

OU had more depth. We should have won in regulation, but couldn't hit the dang FTs which was a season long problem.

BYU is run and gun and we were able to stay with them at home.... we'll see what happens saturday in Provo.

Cincy is not a good team, probably not even a good NIT team, that's just plain a silly thing to say, they're in the dang cellar with us.

We need to call it as it is, and not pretend that we ever had a chance.

Miranda (quit), Marsh, Dow, McBride all disappeared down the stretch, and Thompson got hurt, leaving us with a pretty short bench and mostly Freshman.

The guys that were left played their hearts out, especially Small, Dailey and Garrison. Q was Q, and Keller came on down the stretch when given minutes. Hicklin and Wright were mostly hit-n-miss all season.

No defense. This one of the worst defensive teams that I think I have seen at OSU. Rebounding was horrid, nobody could box out. The problems with these guys is a long list.

Don't get me wrong, I love them to death and I hope the all stay around for the remainder of the careers. The problem is not the players.

and the problems have very little to do with what is "in the tank".

You are what your record says you are! This team isn't tough mentally, doesn't compete at a high level for entire games, won't mix it up on the boards, and aren't particularly good shooters for so-called Power Five players. Add they seem to accept defeat rather easily which speaks to that lack of toughness this team displays all too often. When you approach a twenty loss season you're not very good.

If you can't make free throws you shouldn't have a scholarship to play collegiate basketball. Potential and six bucks will buy you a coffee at Starbucks! Basketball skills are a must at this level and frankly we have too many players without them at a level to compete in the best basketball league in the nation.
