Time to Move Forward Because This is Critical for the Future of Oklahoma State Basketball

STILLWATER – So much more important to look ahead than to rehash the past. My first inclination was to write about what a lousy situation this was that current Oklahoma State athletic director Chad Weiberg was cleaning up from his predecessor Mike Holder. True, this contract was not favorable to Oklahoma State and the athletic department. The second time Holder went overboard on a contract for a coach that had flashed success. Those contracts have added up now to $12 million in buyouts.

I feel the other way... any on that list would be a vast improvement.... at least they are proven head coaches.

I might consider Kevin Kruger at UNLV too... but he's relatively new as a HC.

I'm glad they pulled the trigger, but as I said none of those being mentioned is anything but another long shot.

okay then, give us your list of guarantee success coaches, that would actually consider this job

Robert, not sure why you feel it necessary to point the finger at Mike Holder. For most of his time at OSU, Mike Boynton was considered one of the brightest young coaches in college basketball As it turns out, he was a good recruiter but couldn't put a successful team on the floor. I don't know why. Maybe he's just too nice a guy. Whatever the reason, I don't think it's fair to blame Holder. If you're going to hire a young coach, you need to give him time to develop. We will face the same issue with the next hiire. You can't keeo a young up-and-coming coach on a short contract so you can fire him whenever you want with no buyout. Hindsight is always 20:20.

okay then, give us your list of guarantee success coaches, that would actually consider this job
I'm not sure there is anyone out there that's exciting. Sorry, but the field is pretty bland right now.

Because Holder made the same mistake with these contracts TWICE!!!
