Charleston Classic Bracket Set; Oklahoma State Basketball To Open Against FAU

The Oklahoma State men's basketball team will face Florida Atlantic in the first round of the 2024 Shriners Children's Charleston Classic, Nov. 21, 22 and 24 at TD Arena in Charleston, S.C.

ESPN Events released the full eight-team bracket and tip times this afternoon.

The Cowboys will play three games in four days, beginning with their 1:30 p.m. CT tipoff against FAU on Thursday, Nov. 21.

OSU will meet either Miami or Drake the following day in semifinal or consolation round action.

Seton Hall meets VCU and Vanderbilt takes on Nevada on the other half of the bracket.

The event wraps up Sunday, Nov. 24 with placement round action.

All 12 tournament games will air on the ESPN Family of Networks, which includes ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN+.

Single-session tickets will go on sale in October, pending availability. Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance as Premium Lower Sideline tickets have sold out before October the past three years.

The Charleston Classic is in its 16th year. Past champions include Houston (2023), College of Charleston (2022), St. Bonaventure (2021) and Florida (2020).

The 2024 field includes three teams that competed in last season's NCAA tournament: FAU, Nevada and Drake. In addition, Seton Hall won the National Invitation Tournament title and VCU reached the quarterfinals.

OSU (Steve Lutz) is one of four programs in the field with new head coaches along with Drake (Ben McCollum), FAU (John Jakus) and Vanderbilt (Mark Byington).

In his first three seasons as a head coach, Lutz rapidly rebuilt A&M-Corpus Christi (2022, 2023) and Western Kentucky (2024) into NCAA tournament teams. He's taking a similar approach at OSU with a large group of veteran transfers. Graduate guard Bryce Thompson is one of just three returning Cowboy lettermen back from last year's team.

This is OSU's second Charleston Classic appearance and third separate visit to TD Arena. The Cowboys placed third in the 2015 Classic and won a November, 2019 road game against the College of Charleston.

The Cowboys last faced FAU in the 2006-07 season opener, and their only meetings with Seton Hall and Miami came in the 2000 NCAA Sweet 16 and 2006 NIT respectively. Possible collisions with Drake (1962), Vanderbilt (1964), VCU (1988) and Nevada (1996) would all be the first this century.
