TULSA – Just a brief update as Oklahoma State and Tulsa have taken to the field at Chapman Stadium to warm up for the 2:50 kickoff of the Turnpike Rivalry to open up the 2026 football season for both programs. It is also the start to the Eric Morris era of Cowboys football. Tulsa players initially came ou in blue t-shirts and their football pants and Oklahoma State in black and white shirts and football pants. Since then both teams specialists have come out in game uniform. What you wear and how well you are hydrated will be huge this afternoon in Tulsa. At 1 p.m. the temperature taken on the turf at Chapman Stadium was 151 degrees. It was taken multiple times by a directional thermometer designed to take surface temps. Each time it came up 151.
Then as kickoff got closer, at 2:20 p.m. the temperature on the surface climbed to 161 degrees, verified again by a surface thermometer.
Oklahoma State will wear traditional road uniforms, all white and the jerseys with the orange numbers. The white helmets have the “patriot” three stripes and the OSU brand logo on the sides. Tulsa is wearing traditional blue jerseys with gold pants and the gold helmets with the Tulsa in script.
Injury wise, you know offensive lineman Braydon Nelson has not practiced and is not available. The only player to really watch is starting nickel safety Christian Bodnar, who has battled an injury during fall camp but is good to go.
