Charlie Dickey Eager to Work with Caleb Etienne

STILLWATER – Watching the offensive line go through drills in the northeast corner of the Sherman Smith Training Center before all the positions come together to run plays during the summer metabolic workouts, there is one player that really stands out. Caleb Etienne is a good inch or two over all of his teammates. He is just flat out a big man. He reminds me of the kind of offensive line bodies that you see throughout the Southeastern Conference.

I hope he can step in and dominate in his first season.

OSU has got to win all of their games this season and make the MNC playins, in order to position ourselves to be the top selection from the conference for realiangment.

This season is more essential than any that we have ever played.

Cal, we're really in trouble if OSU's value is all determined by making a four team playoff against the much richer, blueblood programs this year. I hope Gundy's consistently against the overall schedule for a dozen years + outweighs this one year.
I think without spending much time the top 10 wealthiest programs have accounted for about 80% of the 4 team playoff spots. And the top 25 (which adds Clemson, Notre Dame, Mich St. and Oregon I believe make it 100%. It's a wealthy club we're perhaps likely to be able to enter at some point with the 12 team format, but unlikely at best with the four team lockbox. We at least had perhaps the greatest chance of a team outside that pack missing by a single field goal at ISU in a somewhat down year for both OU and UT!

either we're back this year, or we're not (and likely won't ever be).

What more could you ask for? Are we to believe all the headlines about who somebody else thinks is good?

If not now, then when? If never, then let's drop the pretense and form a lesser B16 conference and just get on with it.

If we got bid out of the pot, because we ran out of cash... then so be it.

My guess is we'll know where we are going before we play our first game in September. All of schools that the conferences are considering have a large body work to examine. They can see your facilities, attendance for football, your annual athletic budget and what appears to be your University's overall commitment to athletics. College football in general and the other conferences were apparently caught of guard by the OU - Texas move. Typically, in these things, once the first conference/teams make the their move the dominoes tend to fall quickly. Nobody, including the remaining Power 4 conferences, want to me left out much less the teams that feel they are worthy of joining those conferences.

I may be wrong but UCF and Boise have had amazing seasons and haven't joined the big boys. And I'll bet you it wasn't because they didn't want to.
