Oklahoma State pitcher Justin Campbell, who was selected to join USA Baseball’s Collegiate National Team back in the middle of June, had a solid night on the mound in his first appearance.

Pitching for the Stripes side, Campbell went 3.0 innings and facing nine batters giving up just one hit, no runs or walks with four strikeouts, two of which were looking punch outs. He threw just 41 pitches on the night.

The two-way, second-year freshman had a dominate season for the Pokes in 2021. He made 14 appearances on the mound, 13 of which came as a starter, and went 7-2 on the season with a 2.57 ERA with 102 strikeouts in 84 innings.

As a hitter, Campbell appeared in 30 games for the Pokes as either as designated hitter or pinch hitter and posted a .269 batting average.

According to Oklahoma State, “Campbell is the 12th OSU player to earn a spot on a USA Baseball Collegiate National Team roster. Previous Cowboys who participated on a USA Baseball Collegiate National Team include Gary Kanwisher (1982), Gary Green (1984), Mike Day (1984), Robin Ventura (1988), Brad Beanblossom (1989), Jeromy Burnitz (1989), Matt Smith (1999), Ryan Budde (2000), Jordy Mercer (2007), Tyler Lyons (2008) and Andrew Oliver (2008).”
