K-State Goes In AP Top 25 and Oklahoma State Stays in Coaches Poll at No. 22
STILLWATER – Ironically, the Cowboy 21-20 escape from Boise State on Saturday was a lot like the Oklahoma State’s 20-18 win over Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. in the 2020 football season. Now the Big 12 television partners have egg all over their face for not choosing a battle between ranked teams that are unbeaten playing each other in their Big 12 Conference opener. Instead, the battle at 6 p.m. on Saturday between No. 25 Kansas State (AP poll) and No. 22 Oklahoma State (USA Today Coaches poll) will be streamed on ESPN plus and Big 12 Now.
Bot fan bases are pretty peeved about the oversight of the FOX and ESPN outlets that picked over the Cowboys and the Wildcats. Interestingly, Kansas State broke into the Associated Press Top 25 after their win over Nevada in Manhattan. Oklahoma State is four in votes received, meaning they are No. 29 among the media poll voters. Not a surprise as the media voters rely more on the eye test. The coaches appreciate a team that has to scrape and grind like the Cowboys have to win all three of their games including the win over Boise State on the blue turf on Saturday. Oklahoma State won a game that was scoreless the second half, the first time that has happened in the Mike Gundy era of coaching at Oklahoma State.
Kansas State is eighth in votes received in the coaches poll meaning they are No. 33.
