STILLWATER – First, who would have thought that Kansas State and their head coach Chris Klieman would be the coach killers in the Big 12 Conference, but for the second week in a row a team that lost to the Wildcats is making a coaching change and this one is huge. Last week it was Texas Tech and Matt Wells in his third season as the Red Raiders head coach that was pushed out of his job after losing 25-24 to the Wildcats in Lubbock.

Wow just a few short years ago, Bill Snyder was the Dean of Big XII Coaches and now that title falls to Mike Gundy.

What's ironic is that KSU was probably the school that started off so slowly you had to question if they chose the right coach.

It's interesting how panicked these schools are. I kind of get TT, they haven't had a winning conference record in over a dozen years, but TCU firing the man who built the program? I'm not sure TCU will find what they're looking for.

I agree.... I think TCU is falling into what I call the "big program syndrome", which Texas is a good example of (and Michigan and USC), where they think they deserve more success and they end up suffering for a decade trying to get back to what they already had.

It's probably another tribute to Mr Pickins for OSU not falling into that trap, and succumbing to unreasonable demands of donors who think that their money can buy anything, even success.

TCU will have as good a shot as anyone of landing the "next big thing coach" at their school. Unfortunately, the odds they face are about 1 in 3 or 4 of success doing so virtually anyplace. Look at Tennessee, Michigan, S. Cal, Kansas, Tulsa, Arkansas and Texas and the years they've spent trying. Veey tough to find a Gundy winning level guy....much less a Nick Saban winning coach....which many elite programs and fans expect!

I don't doubt there's another coach that can make it at TCU, but how many before you get there. And, I'm not sure getting in a bidding war for Skip Holt is a sure enough deal.

Now I bet Patterson is a bit peved that he stayed loyal instead of at least talking to KSU.

The whole thing shows the level of panic at those two schools. Looking ahead and seeing themselves falling behind in the Big XII. Probably not the look you want if you think there might be expansion elsewhere in the next 4-5 years. Still I think both schools may be a bit trigger happy.

TTech needs a coach... wouldn't that be a kick in the teeth to the purple toads

Meacham. Doug Meacham rejoined the TCU program in 2020 as inside receivers/tight ends coach and became offensive coordinator in 2021, a role he previously held when the Horned Frogs had record-setting offenses.

NFL and college veteran coach Todd Monken was named Offensive Coordinator at Georgia on January 17, 2020. In his first season with the Bulldogs, Monken successfully navigated a number of challenges at the quarterback position. Between opt-outs and injuries, the Bulldogs started three different signal-callers for the first time in 15 years.
