Report: Renovations Planned For Boone Pickens Stadium

STILLWATER – It appears that Boone Pickens Stadium is going to be a little bit nicer come the start of the 2022 season.

According to a report from Kelly Hines of the Tulsa World, Oklahoma State has approved a $40 million renovation for Boone Pickens Stadium. While a timeline hasn’t been announced yet, there are several projects planned, which will cause another reduction in the stadium’s capacity.

There is one project, however, which has a start time of this summer. The playing surface inside BPS, as well as the outside turf at the Sherman Smith Training Center will be replaced for $1.2 million. Both of those projects were approved by the Board of Regents last Friday, according to the report.

There’s also a plan to add more aisles to improve fan access in the 200 and 300 levels, as well as long-spanning aluminum decking added in the 200 level. The 300 level will also get a new paint job.

The runoff area around the east end zone and the sidelines near the east end zone will also be expanded.

These projects coincide with the projects which have already been announced. The Cowboys’ locker room will receive an upgrade following the conclusion of spring football. They have also added a recruit lounge, updated several of the graphics throughout the West End Zone, as well as updated the position group meeting rooms.
