Oklahoma State Checks in at No. 13 in ESPN's Preseason Football Power Index
STILLWATER – Following a stellar 2021-22 season, Oklahoma State checks in at No. 13 in ESPN’s annual preseason Football Power Index ranking.
The Cowboys are one of just three Big 12 teams listed in the top 25.

ESPN’s FPI predicts the Cowboys will finish with an 8.5-3.8 record and a 97.6% chance of finishing with at least six wins. They also give the Pokes a 14.1% chance of winning the Big 12 title, a 4.3% chance of making the playoffs, a 1.1% chance of making the national title game and 0.2% chance of winning the title.
There’s only four teams on the list, Alabama (30.1%), Ohio State (27.4%), Georgia (22.7%) and Clemson (11.1%) that have a double-digit chance of winning a title.
The Cowboys are fresh off a 12-2 season in 2021-22, which they capped with a 37-35 win over Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl.
They had the best record conference record at 8-1, which included a 37-33 win over Oklahoma in Stillwater and ranked wins over Kansas State (31-20), Baylor (24-14) and Texas (32-24).
The season earned the Pokes a berth into the BIg 12 title game against Baylor, but the came up a few feet short in the end as they fell to the Bears 21-16.
The 2022-23 season kicks off on Sept. 1 as the Pokes host Central Michigan. Kickoff time and possible TV coverage has yet to be announced.
