Stillwater, Okla. – Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton announced the signing of a consistent threat from behind the arc in Russell Harrison on Thursday.

Harrison is set to join the Cowboys after two successful seasons at Louisiana-Monroe under the direction of Keith Richard.

In his two seasons at ULM, Harrison saw action in 55 games with 53 starts and averaged 31.9 minutes per contest. He finished his time in Monroe as a .396 shooter and shot .347 from behind the arc. Of his 244 made field goals during the 2021-22 season, 111 (46 percent) were three-point baskets.

Using a strong combination of athleticism and length, Harrison recorded 20 blocks, 56 steals and brought in 272 defensive rebounds during his two seasons with ULM.

"Russ is a highly skilled forward who will make an impact on our ability to space the floor immediately," Boynton said. "He has an extremely versatile offensive skill set and length to make an impact in our defensive system. He has had a unique journey and we look forward to him being able to use those experiences to continue our pursuit of competing at a high level in America's toughest conference."

Prior to his stop in Monroe, Harrison earned first-team NJAA Division I All-America honors as a sophomore at Clarendon College in Texas. There, he was ranked among the nation's top-10 prospects by JucoRecruiting.com, who listed him at No. 7 in the country. He was notably named the 2019-20 Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Junior College Player of the Year and was also selected as the Western Junior College Athletic Conference Newcomer and Player of the Year to go along with his NJCAA Region V Player of the Year honors.

He started his career at Wayland Baptist (NAIA) in Plainview, Texas. There he averaged 14.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game as a freshman during the 2016-17 season. There he posted 20 double-figuring scoring games, including six 20-point efforts, and had three double-doubles.

Harrison will join the Cowboys as a graduate student-athlete.
