Oklahoma State Signee Jackson Holliday Collects National Player of the Year Award

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State baseball 2023 signee Jackson Holliday has collected yet another Player of the Year award, this time coming from Collegiate Baseball.

Holliday, who was tabbed the Gatorade Oklahoma Baseball Player of the Year in early June, had an unreal senior season. Through 40 games, Holliday hit .685, while posting 89 hits, 79 RBIs and scoring 74 runs, 17 home runs and 30 stolen bases.

In fact, his 89 hits broke the national single-season record, which was previously set by current MLB catcher, J.T. Realmuto.

On the defensive side of the field, Jackson recorded an impressive .980 fielding percentage, committing only three errors throughout the season.

Holliday will have what seems to be a difficult decision to make come July 17 as he’s continuing to project as at top-3 pick in the upcoming 2022 MLB Draft. The decision will be whether to accept a top-3 offer from a Major League team or stay committed and play at Oklahoma State for head coach, who also happens to be his uncle, Josh Holliday.

As it’s been talked about ad nauseam for the past few months, Jackson has all the information he needs to make the decision that’s best for him. As we all know, his dad, Matt, chose to go the professional route, which ended up being a great decision. Multi-time All-Star and won a World Series in 2011 with the St. Louis Cardinals.

He also has the advice from Josh, who took the collegiate route and had a great career at Oklahoma State. So, there’s no question that Jackson will be one of the most informed prospect heading into the draft.

Jackson playing at oSu would sell alot more season tickets! The difference I see between Jackson and Matt is that Matt made a "money decision." There was no multi-million dollar inheritance on the horizon from Tom (as far as I know.) With Jackson, he will never have to worry about legacy money, and could "afford" to play a few years at oSu, under the tutelage of his father and uncle, then cash in on a major league career. His "inheritance" is insurance against a catastrophic injury in college baseball. Of course this is all just an opinion from an oSu baseball fan who tried walking on in Stillwater during Coach Ward and Tom's first year there. It is obviously a personal decision Jackson must make and I support him, and the Holliday family, 100%

Ain't no way this kid is gonna be in Stilly. Likely going early in the very first round!
