Justin Campbell Drafted No. 37 Overall by Cleveland Guardians
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State sophomore pitcher Justin Campbell is headed east as he was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians with the No. 37 overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
The No. 37 slot is valued at $2,100,700.
Campbell has had an extremely productive time at Oklahoma State. This past year as a third-year sophomore, Campbell posted a 3.82 ERA in 101.1 innings pitched. He recorded 141 strikeouts to just 25 walks, giving up 83 hits, just 15 of which were home runs.
He matched a career-high 14 strikeouts this past season in a win against TCU on April 22, going 8.0 innings and giving up just three hits in just 111 pitches.
Following the season, Campbell was tabbed a first-team NCBWA All-American, becoming just the 27th first-team All-American in program history, as well as being named the 2022 NCBWA District 6 Co-Player of the Year.
He also became just the 12th player in program history to earn multiple All-America honors.
This came after an incredibly productive 2021 season in which earned second-team All-America honors from Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game/Rawlings, while being tabbed a freshman All-American by NCBWA.
He was one of five finalists for the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year following a First Team All-Big 12 performance as he posted a 2.57 ERA in 84.0 innings pitched. He recorded 102 strikeouts to just 27 walks.
On the offensive side of things in 2021, Campbell recorded a .269 batting average, recorded 18 hits and 20 strikeouts.
