Colin Simpson Wins Northwest League Batting Title
Another former Oklahoma State baseball player is continuing to tear it up in the Minor Leagues.
Colin ‘Tank’ Simpson just clinched the Northwest League batting title as he hit .300 on the season with 17 homers, 17 doubles, four triples and 60 RBIs. He also led the NWL in slugging with a .530 average and an OPS of .900.
Simpson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the 2019 MLB Draft and is currently playing the Rockies’ High-A team, the Spokane Indians.
During his lone season with the Single-A Fresno Grizzlies, Tank hit .237 on the season with seven homers, 12 doubles, two triples and 39 RBIs. He also struck out 60 times compared to 23 walks.
He’s spent three years in the Minor Leagues and has played in 207 games with an impressive .286 batting average across his three seasons.
With how good he’s been in High-A this season, I don’t think it’d be a surprise seeing Tank playing in the Eastern League with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats at some point next season.
