Oklahoma State Set for Big 12/Big East Battle With No. 8 UConn.
Oklahoma State is set to face its toughest challenge so far this season as the Pokes travel to Storrs, CT, for a Big 12/Big East Showdown game against No. 8 UConn.
Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. CT and will be televised on FS1 with Kevin Kugler and Bill Raftery on the call. As always, Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will be on the radio call.
This marks the third all-time match-up between these two programs, with the Cowboys leading the series 2-0, both coming on neutral courts in 1970 and 2016.
The Huskies are currently 8-0 on the season, with wins over Oregon (83-59), Alabama (82-67) and Iowa State (71-53).
They’re currently averaging 84.0 points per game this season, while shooting nearly 50% from the field, as well as 37% from 3-point range, holding opponents to just 58.0 points per game, 38% shooting from the field and just 27% from 3-point range.
The Huskies are led in scoring and rebounding by 6-9 junior forward, Adama Sanogo, who’s averaging an impressive 18.5 points per game He’s also bringing down 7.0 rebounds per game. He’s one of four scorers averaging double-digits, with Tristen Newton (12.6) Jordan Hawkins (11.2) and Alex Karaban (10.4).
Donovan Clingan and Joey Calcaterra are close to averaging double figures, as they’re 9.5 points and 9.0 points respectively.
On the other side of things, the Cowboys are led in scoring by Avery Anderson III, who’s posting 12.7 points per game this season. Both Bryce Thompson and Moussa Cisse are averaging double-digits as well, posting 11.0 points and 10.0 points respectively, with Cisse leading the team in rebounds with 10.6 per game.
Both John-Michael Wright and Kalib Boone are averaging close to double figures, with 9.9 points and 9.6 points per game respectively.
