STILLWATER – Oklahoma State baseball became the first team in conference history to throw back-to-back no-hitters last week against Cal Baptist and Loyola Marymount. Well, a big part of the no-hitter against Cal Baptist, Janzen Keisel, earned some recognition for his efforts.

It was announced on Monday Keisel had been named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, as well as one of Collegiate Baseball’s National Players of the Week.

Robert Allen - Pokes Report

The BYU transfer sophomore right-handed pitcher was instrumental in the no-hitter against the Lancers. He got the starting nod and went 5 1/3 innings, posting a career-high 11 strikeouts and just one walk in the 2-0 win.

Keisel’s 11 strikeouts are the most by a Big 12 pitcher in a game so far this season. He had previously set a career-high of 10 strikeouts in the third game of the season against Marshall last year as a freshman at BYU.

The no-hitter against Cal Baptist marked the 12th no-hitter in program history and the first combined no-hitter for the Pokes since 1993. Keisel was one of five pitchers who completed the feat, making it that much more impressive.

The Cowboys will be back in action Feb. 28 as they’ll face Missouri State in Springfield, MO, for a 3 p.m. CT start on ESPN+.
