Cowgirls Use Eberle in the Circle to Bounce Back at #8-Louisiana
LAFAYETTE, La. – Oklahoma State softball improved to 13-1 on the season with a 5-3 win against No. 9 Louisiana. Carrie Eberle got the start in the circle for OSU and picked up her team-leading fifth win of the season in the extra-inning contest.
Louisiana jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning. The returning All-American then settled in, eventually striking out five in 8.1 innings of work, allowing just one earned run on the day.
Kelly Maxwell came on in relief, recording the last two outs of the game to earn her first save of the season.
Alysen Febrey (2-for-3, 2 RBI ,HR) and Chyenne Factor (2-for-4) led the way for the Cowgirls offensively. Febrey hit her fourth home run of the season to put the Cowgirls on the board in the fourth inning.
Sydney Pennington (1-for-4, 2 RBI, HR) broke through with a home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Cowgirls a 5-3 lead and eventually the win.
The Cowgirls are scheduled to be back in action on Friday, March 5 in Stillwater, Oklahoma as the host Iin the OSU/Tulsa Invitational. The games are set for 2:30 and 5 p.m. CT.
