STILLWATER – One of the best hitters in Oklahoma State baseball history is headed Cleveland. Nolan Schubart was drafted in the third round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians with the 101st overall pick.
Schubart is the first Cowboy taken in this year’s draft.
This past season as a junior, Schubart climbed into the top 10 all time in several categories for Cowboy baseball. He finished the season with a .299 averaged from the plate in 54 games, starting in all 54. In 197 at-bats, he recorded 59 hits, including nine doubles and 19 home runs. He posted 57 RBIs and struck out 60 times with 47 walks.
His 19 home runs gave him 59 career bombs, which ranks fourth all-time in program history. That equates to a home run every 10 at-bats. He’s also ninth all-time with a .705 slugging percentage and 10th with 199 career RBIs.
Also taken in the draft was future Cowboy, Ethan Holliday, who was taken fourth overall by the Colorado Rockies. A fitting pick Ethan as his dad, Matt, was drafted by the Rockies in the seventh round of the 1998 MLB Draft.
