STILLWATER – Oklahoma State baseball has added a talented JUCO pitcher. On Tuesday, Cowley County pitcher, Kyler Zagar, took to Twitter and announced he’s committed to the Pokes.
Zagar is a 6-1, 185-pound left hander out of Perry, OK. He spent his freshman season throwing for Cowley County, where he was the best pitcher in the Kansas Jayhawk CCC.
He finished the spring with a 10-1 overall record across 14 starts. He recorded a 2.77 ERA, with 73 strikeouts to just 17 walks, and giving up just one home run. across 65 innings pitched
He was especially effective during conference play, going 6-1 across eight appearances. He recorded a 1.98 ERA with 47 strikeouts and just six walks, recording just over 10 strikeouts per nine innings.
Following his season, he was named the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference pitcher of the Year.
Josh Holliday hired Oregon pitching coach, Blake Hawksworth, to fill the vacant role after the offseason retirement of long-time pitching coach, Rob Walton. Since Hawksworth joined the staff, the Pokes have added pitchers Kai Fyke and Hudson Barrett out of the portal.
