STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball head coach Kenny Gajewski, on the road recruiting, said earlier this week that the new video board in Cowgirl Stadium is the biggest video board inside any college softball stadium in the country. Who’s to question him on that because it
is bigger than any video board we’ve seen at a college softball stadium. The new board has yet to be turned on, but the screen area is sizeable. In fact, just eyeballing it, while it is a different dimension it seems to be as large as the video board in baseball’s O’Brate Stadium.
Construction and specifically the electronics portion of the installation seemed to be on going as we went back behind right field to see the work going on with the bucket lift.
The board is a product of Daktronics, of which Oklahoma State has had a great relationship with in using their products in other facilities such as Gallagher-Iba Arena, Boone Pickens Stadium, and the Greenwood Tennis Center.
The purchase of the video board was approved last January and it definitely goes along with the new field from a year ago and the updated outfield decks in making the 25-year-old facility better and enhance the game day atmosphere.
The board will serve as a multi-purpose information and entertainment source with a scoreboard, information on the battler and the line-up for both teams and also have highlight and video capacity.
