No. 4 Nebraska Evens Up the Series with Oklahoma State in a 4-3 Win
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State got the dramatic 11-inning win on Thursday night, but after battling other teams, the No. 16 Cowgirls and No. 4 Nebraska got back on the diamond again at Cowgirl Stadium. Another packed house of over 1,800 fans joined them and they saw another good one that went Nebraska’s way when Jordy Frahm delivered a two-out single to rightfield that scored runners from second and third to put the Huskers up 4-3.
Oklahoma State had jumped out to a pair of leads in the game, but was not able to come back after Frahm’s two-RBI single as the All-American pitcher moved from first base back to the circle and closed the door. Frahm got the win to go 4-3 on the season. The Cowgirls ace Ruby Meylan gave up the winning hit and took the loss to go to 4-4.
The Cowgirls drop to 14-5 on the season and that is also where Nebraska stands at 14-5. The two will play a third time, a rubber match at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 1. Before that game, Oklahoma State will play South Dakota State at noon.
Oklahoma State opened the scoring in the third inning when Rosie Davis drilled a ground ball to short but the throw was wide to Frahm at first base. Scoring on the the error by shortstop Ava Kuszak were Jayden Jones and Tia Warsop to give the Cowgirls a 2-0 lead.
Nebraska tied the score at 2-2 in the fourth when Malia Thoms launched a two-run homer to right-center off of Cowgirls starting pitcher RyLee Crandall.
In the bottom half of the fourth Jayden Jones gave Oklahoma State the lead back with a double down the right field line that hit just inside the line and scored Amanda Hasler to make it 3-2.
Nebraska again took the lead in the sixth and made it stand up.
