STILLWATER – Oklahoma State Cowgirls softball has had its game, as well as the completion of a suspended game from earlier in the season scheduled tonight with Wichita State postponed. The Cowgirls bus was involved in an accident on the way to Wichita, Kansas for the contests.

The post from Oklahoma State softball on its Twitter/X site was encouraging. It reported that none of the members of the traveling party were hurt.

Eric Bailey of the Tulsa World has reported the incident involved a pedestrian on I-35.

The team bus was heading north on I-35 on it’s way to Wichita when it struck a woman who was running in and out of traffic. The woman was killed when she was hit by the bus, according to witnesses, according to OHP.

The incident happened at approximately 2 p.m. It occurred northbound on I-35 near mile marker 186.

It also was reported that a new date would be found and the games would be played this season.

The suspended game was from March 10 with Wichita State leading 8-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning. Oklahoma State had two runners on with one out. Then the teams were going to play the regularly scheduled game for tonight (April 8).

The action was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Wilkins Stadium, a two-hour drive from Stillwater. The Cowgirls are scheduled to open a weekend series against Iowa State on Friday in Ames. Oklahoma State is 25-10/7-5 in Big 12 play. Iowa State is 21-15/3-8.
