Oklahoma State Baseball Heads to Alabama for NCAA Baseball Regional
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State Cowboys found out Monday morning (May 25) that they will be heading to Tuscaloosa, Alabama for their 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament appearance. Alabama is hosting and they are the No. 7 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament. The Crimson Tide has a 37-19 record. The top seed and host will open with Alabama State (34-21).
Oklahoma State (37-20) is the No. 2 seed in Tuscaloosa and will open with No. 3 seed South Carolina Upstate (33-28).
“Can’t wait to dive in and go learn about South Carolina Upstate, their roster, what they are built on, their pitching staff. and all the things that make them good,” Holliday said after the announcement. “We’ll learn about the other two teams and hopefully by tonight have a good working knowledge about the regional. Then tomorrow put our heads together and go have a game plan on winning the tournament.
“We need to act promptly and be on top of our game and prepare these boys to work tomorrow, travel Wednesday, and embrace this awesome opportunity,” Holliday finished.
Alabama plays their home games at Sewell-Thomas Stadium on the Alabama campus. The stadium originally opened in 1948 at Thomas Stadium and was renamed Sewell-Thomas Stadium in 1978. It underwent major renovations in 1996, 2001 with a video board added in 2007. It was again renovated in 2010. The capacity is 5,867 with more available with temporary seating. It also features grass berm seating in the outfield.

Pokes Report was the only website that successfully projected that the Cowboys would be going to Alabama for the NCAA Baseball Tournament. We actually projected three-of-the-four in the Tuscaloosa Regional, also picking SC Upstate to be there. We missed Alabama State and instead predicted The Citadel.
None of that matters anymore. It is all about the facts and the match-ups now. The top national seeds that would host Super Regionals should they advance are:
| Top Eight National Seeds for the 2026 NCAA Baseball Tournament |
| 1. | UCLA (51-6) | 5. | North Carolina (45-11-1) |
| 2. | Georgia Tech (48-9) | 6. | Texas (40-13) |
| 3. | Georgia (46-12) | 7. | Alabama (37-19) |
| 4. | Auburn (38-19) | 8. | Florida (39-19) |
The winner of the Tuscaloosa Regional would match up with the winner of the No. 10 seed and host of the Tallahassee Regional Florida State.
| Seed | Tallahassee Regional |
| 1. (No. 10 National) | Florida State (38-17) |
| 2. | Coastal Carolina (37-21) |
| 3. | Northern Illinois (35-17) |
| 4. | St. John’s (33-24) |
There is plenty of time to worry about what goes on in Tallahassee for the Florida State-hosted regional. The NCAA Baseball Tournament and the quest to make it to Omaha and NCAA College World Series is a step-by-step process and one where you need blinders on to focus only on what is ahead of you. Oklahoma State has a definite opportunity. Alabama is good, but the Cowboys reasonably should end up needing to beat Alabama twice at some point over the weekend.
It would be nice to be at home at O’Brate Stadium, but this OSU team battled, got better, played strong late in the season. Now, they have a reasonable path to get to Charles Schwab Stadium in Omaha. It isn’t easy, but it is reasonable and it starts at 1 p.m. this Friday.
